what do you believe?

in essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things love

We believe that the basic teaching of the Bible, though profound, is simple and designed by God so everyone, young and old can understand what it means!

You don’t need deep “theological” training to understand what God wants you to know. All you need is a willing heart and an open mind.

You also need the desire to do what the Bible says!

what we believe about God

We believe that God is the Creator and ruler of the universe.
He has always existed (eternally) in three unique personalities:
  • God the Father
  • God the Son
  • God the Holy Spirit
Though these three are separate and unique, they exist as One God and are “co-equal”.
God is the ultimate object of all praise, worship and glory.

what we believe about Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God; completely equal to God the Father and The Holy Spirit.

He was not created, He has always been. Jesus was born of a woman who had never had sex with a man. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He came back to life from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory, is there working on our behalf today. Someday Jesus will return again to earth to rule over the earth as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

(John 14:10-27, Hebrews 10:14, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4 1 Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13)

what we believe about the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father & Jesus Christ. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in us from the moment we accept Jesus Christ. He provides us with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives us a spiritual gift when we are saved. As believers, we seek to live under His control daily.

(John 16:10-13, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8)

what we believe about "the gifts"

Though we believe that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts, He also produces His fruit within the life of every willing, obedient believer. The gifts can often be misunderstood or imitated, the fruit of the Spirit is impossible to fake. Therefore the focus of ChurchForFamily is on the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23) not primarily the gifts of the Spirit.

Though ChurchForFamily is not a Charismatic church, we are not anti-Charismatic.

(1 Corinthians 2:12, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 1:13, Galatians 5:25, Ephesians 5:18)

what we believe about the bible

We believe the Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth. It is useful to teach us truth and to help us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do right. It prepares us for every situation in life. The entire Bible is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error and represents the final and complete standard of God’s Word to us today.

(2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 1:13, Psalm 1)

what we believe about the people

We believe each individual was made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. Each of us are the supreme objects of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3-6, Romans 3:23

what we believe about god's forgiveness

We believe that salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

(Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1)

what we believe about eternal security

We believe that it is God who gives us eternal life – we can’t earn it or keep it by ourselves. Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. If you have genuinely committed your life to Jesus Christ and He has given you His eternal life, you cannot “lose” it. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

(John 10:29, Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 10:10, 14, 1 Peter 1:3-5)

what we believe about eternity

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

(John 3:16, John 14:17, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17)
